How I Fucked Up This Christmas

1. Waited until Christmas morning to make the 2 coconut cream pies to take to E's sister's house. Didn't notice until I had mixed everything together that the milk had gone sour. No pies.

2. Bought a turkey breast that was too big for my crock pot. Just discovered this. Now will have to run home half way through lunch @ E's sis house to put in oven.

3. Refered to my parents and Kate as "my family," thus, apparently hurting E's feelings, resulting in a fight in which I called him a lazy prick. Ahh. Christmas.

4. Didn't notice as the dog stole and chewed up Sophie's new kitten (toy). She discovered it chewed and mangeled in the kitchen.

Oh, that's too bad. But I bet everything turned out okay after all. At least I hope so.

You totally didn't fuck up Christmas. Christmas inherently has problems. NO Christmas is perfect. So, go easy on yourself, you did a wonderful job. Can I come over and play fooseball?

I think everyone could have a post labeled "How I fucked up this Christmas."

I know I could.

Besides, I'm sure that what you consider as "fucking up" isn't nearly as "fucked up" as you think.

How did you fuck up this Christmas, 'stine? Aside from the overconsumption of dairy products, that is . . .

Of course, the fact that we think of Christmas as something we can "fuck up" is part of the problem. Holidays have become another one of those things, like sex and conversation, that were supposed to be natural, spiritual pleasures, islands of respite from everything else the world demands of us, that have since been warped into yet more skills that we're supposed to cultivate, acts at which we're supposed to excel or fail. Like we need more of those, right?

I'm guessing everything was fine, Missuz J, and and you're just suffering from having placed an unreasonable expectation on yourself.

All I can say is listen to your friends! You cannot mess up something like Christmas - it's like a wedding everything that goes wrong is what has made YOURS unique - special!

Go easy on yourself! (At least your woman enough to say YOU messed it up around our house I always have blamed the MR. for everything that went wrong!)

so much pressure for one day. why do we do this to ourselves, year after year? it's not what the baby jesus wanted.

That is a rather short list. I'm impressed. I figure everyone had a least ten fuckups over Christmas.
