New hair. New school?

Had a shitty day yesterday, so when Soph shrieked like a scalded ape about having her hair washed and brushed, I asked, "Do you want short hair?" She said yes, so we headed to the hair styling college, and here is the result.

In further news, daycare is becomming a complete and total nightmare. She used to love it, but lately, she throws a huge fit whenever she has to go. In fact, today, when E took her, she started crying so hard that she hyperventelated and then threw up. He called me at work, I called a sub, and am here at home with her. I don't know if that was the right thing to do or not, but there you have it. When I've tried to talk to her about it, she tells me that school is scarry, and that the kids aren't nice. After talking to the teacher, I still don't have a great idea of what is going on.

So--I've been looking into other options. There is a new montesorri school here in town that her friend goes to. Everything I've heard about montesorri looks super, and they do a 8:30 to 3:30 Monday through Friday. It's pricey, but I'm hoping that grandma carolyn can be convinced to pick up the difference. I'm going to visit today, and we'll see.

Soph and I started playing a new game last nigh. Before bed, I said to her, "I love you more than everything." She picked right up on it, and said to me, "I love you more than bunnies." Here's the rest of the conversation.

M: I love you more than sunny days.
S: I love you more than pink bunnies.
M: I love you more than french fries.
S: I love you more than pink marshmallow bunnies.
M: I love you more than snuggily blankets.
S: I love you more than Care Bears.
M: I love you more than bubble baths.
S: I love you more than stickers.
M: I love you more than rocky road ice cream.
S: I love you more than...ummm...CARE BEAR STICKERS!!

I was quite flattered.

Oh--here are a couple of pics from the anniversary trip.

Oh my gosh - she aged 5 years with the hair cut. It is too cute - but boy does she look older than she did at the Christmas tree pictures just 2 weeks ago.

I think finding another solution is a good idea - I hope it's not something that traumatized her completely.

Poor Sophie (and her poor parents). I would have done the same thing. I think that there's a line between making a child deal with something and knowing when they really need to still be taken care of. Dermot's been fighting daycare the last couple of weeks, but he's fine once he gets there. He loves it there. I think he's torn between wanting to stay with us and playing with all of his friends. I am convinced that his dream world would be Ethan and I with him at daycare.

I have only heard good things about Montessori schools. My mom worked at one during the summer when she was teaching, and they were really strict and clean in the infant room where she worked. One of my professors at Purdue has her daughter in Montessori and left here there for kindergarten because she liked it so much. It does cost extra, but this little girl's grandparents pay for it too.

I like the hair. I loved having short hair as a kid so that I could go swimming without a swimming cap. My poor mom hated it.

I loooove those pictures of you and Eric! I hope your trip was a good break for you both.

Soph's hair is sweet. I wish Madeline would let me cut a few inches at least off of hers.

Don't stress about me as far as Xmas goes, we'll deal if it doesn't work out. If it does, it'll be awesome, but I don't need to know any time at all, as far as that goes. Shoot, you could call on your way into town and I'd be thrilled.

p.s. OK, universe, internets, Santa, whoever's listening, the Jorgensen's need some magical Christmas miracle fund-age, so they can come to Albuquerque and chill with the Krause House. I'm officially putting my intent out there on this one, make it so. ;)

p.p.s. yeah, this really would be one of those times when my magic wand would come in handy.

Sophie's hair looks so cute! The day care situation has to be stressful. I'm sure you'll find a solution soon. On a completely unrelated note; wow girl you've got a great rack! I hope that's not offensive.

Sophie has DEFinitely trumped you with the "more than Care Bear stickers" bid. I agree with oldmother, she's aged 5 years with the new cut. It makes a cute girl even cuter.

And I agree, great rack!!! Glad to hear you're feeling a little better. Now back to hating...

I was gonna say something about the kid's new do, the rack, and the feeling better, but it seems those have been taken care of already.....

Happy Anniversary? (Yes, I know, several days late on that.)

my mom asked me if I wanted short hair (just kidding, she told me I was getting short hair) only it didn't look like sophie's. it was about 2 inches long, total.

yep on the rack and the game and the anniversary. sucks about the needing funds. yay about the day off.

I love you more than care bear stickers too.

Sophie's hair is ADORABLE! I prefer hairstyles over just long hair any day. And it's especially cute on the little folk.

I hope Grandma helps foot the bill.

Love the anniversary shots. I love photos people take of themselves.

I love the new cut! What a doll. I'm glad you and E had fun on your mini holiday (ala Bridget Jones). And yes, you truly do have a nice rack my dear.
